About the event
The Flowering Youth Sealing Ceremony Workshop is rooted in the traditional teachings of Curanderismo found across Mexico, Central, South America and the Caribbean. The Curanderismo tradition includes African healing modalities as well as other cultural influences. We seek to reach inner city youth and thier familes whom are interested in re-connecting and remebering our indigenous healing methods. The FYSCW, provides an opportunity for youth to learn these methods hands on in an intergenerational setting and reapply the knowledge  through reoccuring engagement in our program, alumni mentorship to future cohorts and opportunity to interact and learn with Elder culture bearers in ceremony abroad when opportunities arise. Water & Honey Wellness's, Sistas In Service International Progam provides and promotes African and Indigenous cultural literacy, ritual arts, ceremony, rites of passage, and womb care, using traditional knowledge systems stewarded by our culture bearers. We seek to address trauma and increase access amongst our community members to traditional knowledge to reduce disparities in physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health and financial welfare.
